Donations have been collects as part of Samantha's personal fundraising for the trip. Thank you to all who donated to the cause!

Most of the donations goes towards a stipend for her host family, who are very grateful for the contribution because it helps to alleviate some financial burden. Nicaragua is the second poorest country in Latin America following Haiti and approximately 80% of the rural poor depend on agriculture to survive according to

Rural Poverty.Org

The host family consists of a single mother and her three children. The single mother runs her own t shirt printing business out of her home. The youngest two children live in the home and go to school. The oldest daughter lives nearby and just gave birth to her first child.
